SpeedBoats

While the speedboats division has been quieter in recent years, we’re keen to see renewed interest in this exciting part of the hobby.

Please note: at our Sonstraal Dam venue, only electric-powered models with low noise levels are permitted, out of respect for nearby residents. That said, alternative venues may offer more flexibility for other types of models.

Racing Classes:

Our classes are based on the boats present on race day, keeping things flexible and inclusive for everyone.

Slow Class

The first race of the day is typically an open class race, welcoming any electric-powered boat. This is usually the “slow” race, featuring older models and a relaxed pace. Participants with newer boats are encouraged to use the smallest battery they have to keep things fair. It’s the perfect race for first-timers and novice racers—a pressure-free, fun introduction to speedboat racing.

Fast Class

To spice things up, many members have upgraded to newer, faster boats, leading to the creation of a dedicated Fast Class as the second race of the day. These boats often run on brushless motors with up to 4S LiPo batteries, offering serious speed and excitement. While Vector SR80s are popular, the class is open to any hull. As the group grows, we’re planning to split this into 2S, 3S, and 4S sub-classes for even more structured racing.
